Russell 6 April 1923 - 2 January 2013 MMR1 US Navy L.D. Russell, 89, a longtime resident of Denison/Sherman, Texas, passed away in Tyler, Texas Wednesday, January 2, 2013. He was born April 6, 1923 in Bokchito, Oklahoma, to the late William Nelson and Fannie Mae Stinson Russell. He attended Denison High School and was a selective volunteer in the U.S. Navy during World War II, serving honorable as Machinist's Mate First Class in the Pacific Theater, primarily Australia, New Guinea, Manicani Island, Phillipines and Battle of the Coral Sea. During the 1950s he and his late wife Donna Belle O'Neill lived in Denison with their three daughters, Mary Kathleen, Janet Marie and Cynthia Jane. He attended Austin College and spent his working years in the carpentry and refrigeration trades, also working in New Mexico, Arizona, Oregon, Nevada and Alaska. He was a Christian, a Life member of the Full Gospel Business Mens Fellowship International and member of the Manicani Island Association. He was preceded in death by his parents and infant siblings Nadine and Willie James; brothers: John Landon (J.L.), and L.C.; sisters: Lola Marie Bergman and Luttie Belle Pipkin; also, infant great-granddaughter: Ellianna Kathleen Koller.
