Established 1948    Gerry Lee Runnels 23 September 1960 - 28 May 2018 SP4 US Army  Sherman - Funeral services for Gerry Lee Runnels were held Saturday morning, June 2, 2018 at Waldo Funeral Home. Burial with military honors followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Runnels, 57, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018 in Sherman from an extended bout of complications of cancer. Gerry was born September 23, 1960 in Sherman, son of E.C. and Patricia Ashford Runnels. He graduated from Sherman High School in 1979 nand served in the U.S. Army from July 1979 to May 1985, during his tour he was stationed in Germany. Gerry married Tina Walker on December 31, 1999 in Sherman. He worked for Verizon for 20 years and enjoyed the online game Everquest. He will be remembered for his ability to make people laugh and smile. He is survived by his wife of Sherman; 2 daughters, Holli Goade and D'Lanie Runnels; 2 sons, Jeremiah and Garrett McCown; 2 grandchildren; father, E.C. Runnels and wife, Lois; mother, Pat Elliott and husband, Steve; siblings, Crithea and Scott Lloyd; Kim and Buddy Neighbors, and Brandon Runnels; 3 nieces and 1 nephew; and a host of friends.
