Established 1948 The Herald Democrat March 16, 2010 Bessie Robertson, 92, passed away on March 13, 2010, at the Homestead of Sherman. Bessie was born December 25, 1917, in Bonham, daughter of Frank Elkins and Bess Huey Elkins. She married T.G. Robertson in 1934. They were married for 63 years. Bessie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, T.G.; siblings, Clarence, Ralph, Frank and Wyatt Elkins; and sister, Elsie Davis; also, by son Kenneth; and grandson Kenny Robertson. She is survived by son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Gloria Robertson, of Encinitas, Califoria; daughter Martha and son-in-law, John Helmick, of Sherman; daughter-in-law Betty Robertson of Las Cruces, New Mexico; 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren; and cousin, Helen Rathbun of Sherman. Bessie was a longtime member of Key Memorial Methodist Church and was the organist for many years, after taking lessons on the old pipe organ in the 1940s. She was also employed for 24 years in the credit department at Roberts, Sanford & Taylor until her retirement. A graveside memorial service was scheduled Tuesday afternoon, March 16, 2010 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Albert Fisher of Key Memorial Methodist Church officiating and Dannel Funeral Home coordinating the cremation and service.
