Established 1948   Services for JoAnn Russell, 91, of Sherman, Texas were held Thursday evening, June 15, 2023 at Fisher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas. Rev. Raymond England officiated and burial followed the next morning at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Sherman. Services were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home. Mrs. Russell passed away Saturday, May 27, 2023 at Seven Oaks Nursing Facility in Bonham, Texas. She was born January 12, 1932 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of Gordon and Eunice Lamb Craig. JoAnn married O'Dell Russell on January 31, 1948 in Sherman. She worked at Burlington Industries until the closing in 1985. She also worked at the Renaissance in Sherman as the head housekeeper for many years until she retired. She was one of the hardest working people you would ever meet. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Gary Russell; granddaughter, Mitzi Jane Phillips; sister, Carol Hinshaw; and brother, Billy Russell. JoAnn is survived by her son, Barry Russell of Denison, Texas; daughter, JoDell Phillips of Sherman, Texas; niece, Marla Denton of Whitesboro; great-niece, Mitzi Hensley, of Sherman, Texas; and great-nephew, Jesse Denton, of Whitesboro. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Kim Simmons and Rachel Johnson; several great-grandchildren and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as many other family and friends. JoAnn will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, aunt and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
