The Denison Press Friday, November 15, 1957 pg. 3 Funeral services were held at Johnson-Moore Chapel Monday, Novembef 4, for S.M. Pool, 88, of Rt. 3, Denison who died in Madonna Hospital Saturday, November 2, after 3 days of illness. Rev. Duke Barron conducted the services and interment was in Cedarlawn. Mr. Pool was born in Fayetteville, Arkansas, July 5, 1869, son of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Pool. He was married to Sarah Ella Swagerty, who died in 1950 [sic]. Mr. Pool came to Bell County, Texas from Arkansas in 1890 in a covered wagon with his wife and one son and lived there 9 years. They returned to Arkansas for a short time, then returned to Texas and settled at Rockport where they remained for a couple of years. He moved then to Grayson County in the Ellsworth community in 1901 and bought the home where he had resided ever since. He was a Methodist. Survivors are 3 sons, Wallace Pool of Plainview; Andrew of Denison; and Oliver of Whitewright; 6 daughters, Mrs. Minnie Fowler of Mead, Oklahoma; Mrs. Eva Higgins and Mrs. Nellie Dorries, both of Denison; Mrs. Ethel Stone of Albany; Mrs. Gertie Allen of Tulsa; Mrs. Pearl Rea of Burbank, California; 50 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.
