Established 1948 Derrik Scott Poitevint January 17, 1980 - October 11, 2019 The grief left behind in the wake of your passing is only out-weighed by the love you made us feel.... Derrik was a free-spirited adventurer, always looking to the horizon for something great. He always wanted more...not for himself, but to share it with those closest to him. He was a man of ideas, of inventiveness, and of action. Derrik was a generous soul who loved his family and friends with a ferocity unmatched by most. He wanted nothing more than to be a better man.... for his family, his friends, his business, and himself. Derrik was the kind of person that was eager to help anyone who was willing to try for themselves. He prided initiative over skill, deeds before words...but most importantly LOVE. Derrik understood that love for who a person is, their passions, their ideas...that's what made them worthy of his time & energy, and he freely gave it to anyone who understood this concept. Derrik's work in building Magnum Opus was just an outlet, an expression of that love. He wanted to help people through his work with plants and extracts. He was scientific in nature, but not without great passion...logical, yet creative. He had no employees, he had friends who looked to him for leadership and instruction. He was a soul older than time, and the world is lesser without his light in it. We will carry on, slowly at first but we will, as you would have wanted. Though you are gone, the memories and legacy you've left behind will endure through everyone you've touched in this life. We look forward to meeting you again in the next. Rest easy, dear friend.
