Established 1948 MarDaily Oklahoman Marion Monroe Pinion of Oklahoma City, formerly of Sherman, Texas, died Thursday morning, November 23, 1995, at Presbyterian Hospital, after a battle with lung and brain cancer. He was born August 11, 1928, son of Marvin and Beatrice Pinion. He graduated from Dorchester High School, captain of his school basketball team. He moved to Sherman in 1945, joining the US Army that same year. He was a Sergeant, serving with the 8th Army under General Ickleburger, mostly in Yokohama, Japan. He married Margie Hood of Whitesboro, Texas on January 24, 1950. He was transferred around the country many time before finally moving to Oklahoma City in 1971, where they made their home. He retired from the Oklahoma Health Science Steam & Chill Plant in 1990, due to bad health. He was an avid bowler while his health permitted. A lifetime member of Woodmen of the World, he loved working with his hands, and yard work was his pet peeve. Marion and Margie enjoyed traveling in later years. Marion believed in family ties and was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather and husband. He loved life and people, and always had a witty joke to tell. Marion was preceded in death by his father; and infant son, Marion Dale. He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Margie; 3 children and spouses: Debbie and Tommy Tomlinson; Mark Monroe and Dena Pinion; and Kimberly and Rick Scrivner; 7 grandchildren; his mother; brother and wife, Bobby and Margie Pinion; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: John and Marie Hood; Bobbie Huff; Bill and Jackie Hood; Jo Ann McMullins; Gene and Doris Hood; Tommy Hood; Basil Eidd; Macel Hood; John and Martha Gessick; 21 nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and a host of friends. Pallbearers were sons-in-law and brothers-in-law. Honorary pallbearers were Don Starin, Verian McDown, Bob Stuary, Bob Young, P.L. Martin, and Russell Copeland.
