Established 1948 DENISON – Thomas Jefferson Perkins, Jr., 84, of Denison went to be with his Lord and his loving wife, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Texas Health Presbyterian WNJ Hospital in Sherman. Funeral service for Thomas were held Tuesday afternoon, April 19, 2011 at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Garrett officiating. Pallbearers were Jerry Gilbert, Tim Gilbert, Arlon Scroggins, Chris Conner, Owen Mott & Randy Conner. Honorary pallbearer was Dennis Ray Perkins. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. Thomas was born August 8, 1926 in Denison, Texas, the son of Thomas J. Perkins, Sr. & Mary Shoemake. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Adele Scroggins, whom he married on April 5, 1945. He was a member of Oakridge Baptist Church in Denison; was music director for 40 years at various churches in the Texoma area and retired from Johns-Manville. His hobbies were fishing, camping, motorcycles, cooking and especially love for his animals. He was a drill instructor in the U.S. Marine Corps. - a Corporal on board the U.S.S. Miami in the South Pacific during WWII. He is survived by daughter, Brenda Gayle (Roni) Perkins of Denison; son, Dennis Ray Perkins of Denison; grandsons, Randy Conner & wife Leah; Chris Conner & wife Lenae; great-grandchildren Lindsey Conner, Hannah Smith, Brenna Conner, Kayla Conner & Willow Conner. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister Naomi 'Pete' Conner. Arrangements are entrusted to Bratcher Funeral Home.
