Established 1948   Services for Edith Mae Pettit, age 90, of Sherman, Texas were held at 2:00 PM Monday, May 17th 2010 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Rev. David Murphy of Northpark Baptist Church officiated. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. She passed away on May 14, 2010 at the Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman. Edith was born on August 26, 1919 the daughter of Ottis and Verda Northcutt Cole. She married Temple Pettit in January of 1940. He preceded her in death in December of 1990. Edith worked at Gibsons, Wal-Mart and Hobby Lobby. She enjoyed sewing, crafts and playing 42. Edith was a member of North Park Baptist Church for over 56 years, she was an Eastern Star 50 year member and a Past Matron of Carpenters Chapter 183. She is survived by her son, Larry Pettit and wife Pat of Sherman, Texas; daughter, Gayle Doyle and husband Troy of Gainesville, Texas;, son, Ronald Pettit of Branson, Missouri; seven grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Edith was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, George and Richard Cole. Pallbearers were her grandsons - Tim Walser, Brad Walser, Eric Pettit, Kyle Pettit, Brendan O'Neill and Phil Hamm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Carpenters Chapter 183 at 716 Quail Run Road Sherman, Texas 75090 or the Northpark Baptist Church at 2605 Rex Cruse Drive, Sherman, Texas 75092.
