Laura, Billie, Memaw Billie, are some of the names she was called by
those who loved her. Laura Poole left this life at 10:30 A.M., Jan. 3,
2015. Laura was born to Will and Lela Williams in Jones County, near Trent, Texas, on July 22, 1925. She was the eighth of nine children. Wanda of California and Eva Lena, her sisters, are still living. She started school in Goodman, Texas and graduated from high school in Post, Texas in 1941. She married Bob Poole in 1941 and he preceded her in death in 2002. Bob joined the Navy and was stationed in California. Laura traveled across the country with a small child to be with him. He later served in the Pacific theatre. She worked as a riveter in the shipyards and bore scars the rest of her life as evidence of service to her country. They returned to Post where she worked at Postex Mills. After the mill closed they went to Cartwright, Oklahoma. She lived there with Judy and Bill for several years. The last 3 years of her life she lived in Burnet, Texas. She is survived by two children, Kenny and his wife, Leta of Burnet and Judy Smith and her husband, Bill of Weatherford. She has seven grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. She left memories of a loving heart, a sharp wit and a deep abiding love. It is impossible to capture in a brief narrative what Billie meant to her loved ones. Her personality and her love were unconditional. Billie loved Christmas and the spirit it represented. The celebration, generosity and selflessness of Christ found a home in her heart. Funeral Services to celebrate Billie's life will be at 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, Jan. 7, at the Park Avenue Church of Christ in Denison with Todd Catteau, Minister, officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Greg Poole, Jeff Poole, Bill Smith, Dillon Poole, Mike Echols and Ronnie Poole, serving as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in Billie's honor to Park Ave. Church of Christ 3000 S.
