Sherman Democrat Monday, July 1984 Page: A86 Services for Dewey H. "Jake" Owen, 86, of Sherman were held Tuesday in Travis Street Church of Christ with burial in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Masonic rites. He died Saturday in a Sherman nursing home. Mr. Owen was born in Dunn, a son of Thomas Benjamin and Tommie Howard Owen, and married Clara McFall on September 20, 1920, in Sherman. He was a farmer and a retired employee of Line Material Co. He was a Master Mason, a member of Travis Masonic Lodge No. 117 and Travis Street Church of Christ. Surviving are his son, Dewey T. Owen of Sherman; daughters, Cora Mae Simco, Tressie Martin, Gwen Taravin and Lois Sims of Sherman, Jodi Finley of Irving and Gene Johnson of Nederland; sisters Alma Harrison of Gunter, Mattie Tate of Stephenville and Lula Davidson.
