Offutt 1934 - 2012  The Herald Democrat June 14, 2012 SHERMAN - Funeral services for Larry Wolford Offutt, 77, of Sherman were held Friday afternoon, June 15, 2012 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. David Murphy of Northpark Baptist Church in Sherman officiateed. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. He passed away on Monday, June 11, 2012 at his residence in Sherman. Larry was born on December 10, 1934 in Denison, the son of Fred Wolford and Helen Sarah Overturf Offutt. Larry served for 9 years in the National Guard. He worked for GTE for 30 years before retiring in 1991. His hobbies included fishing and working on cars. Larry was a longtime member of the Elk's Lodge. He married Lillie Carpenter on September 12, 1955. He is survived by his son, Kevin L. Offutt of Sherman; daughter, Kim Mathews and husband, Daryl, of Denison; 3 grandchildren, Kathryn Zinck of Denison, Kristal Bryant of Austin, and Kasi Bryant of Denison; 1 great-granddaughter, Lilliana Caplinger of Denison; and cousin, Bobby Ray Overturf. Larry is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Pallbearers were Mike Holloway, Chris Cowart, Daniel Krider, Thomas Dollins, Gary Dollins and James Bryant. Honorary pallbearer will be Daryl Mathews.
