OLds 1892 - 1969 Denison Herald Monday Evening November 17, 1969 Sherman - Funeral were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Flesher Funeral chapel in Van Alstyne for Roger Mills Old, 77, who died Sunday in a Sherman hospital, with burial in Cedarlawn Cemetery south of Denison. He was born in Texas July 26, 1892 and was a retired farmer and a Methodist. He married Candias Grider in 1919 in Van Alstyne. Survivors include his widow; four daughters, Mrs. Irene Means of Sherman, Mrs. Lorelle Dodson of Memphis, Tennessee; Mrs. Billy Morris of Tyler, and Mrs. Eloise Taylor of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one son, Dudley of Atlanta, Georgia; 12 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Homer Sanford of Whitesboro; two brothers, Lawrence of Weatherford, and Wilburn of Lubbock. Sherman Democrat Sunday June 26, 1992 A12 Services for Mary Candeas Olds, 91, of Sherman who died Friday in Chapel of Care Nursing Home, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in Dannel Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Bob Walker of Key Memorial Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Olds was born in the Cannon Community, the daughter of John Grider and Irene Hunter Grider and attended Cannon Community School.s She married Roger Olds on January 19, 1920 in Van Alstyne. She moved to Sherman in 1946. Mrs. Olds was a seamstress at Pool Manufacturing and retired after 29 years. She was a member of the Key Memorial Methodist Church. Surviving are her daughters: Irene Means and Lorelle Dodson, both of Sherman, Billie Morris of Reno, Nev. and Elousie Taylor of Fayetteville, N.C.; son, Dudley Olds of Big Sandy; sister, Susie Hartfield of Van Alstyne; and 11 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Gary Means, Paul Morris, Mark Morris, Douglas Olds, Keith Dodson and Alan Chadwick. Memorials may be made to Key Memorial Methodist Church, 910 E. Houston, Sherman, Texas 75090.
