Established 1948 Herald Democrat September 26, 2014 Services for Martha Osborne were held Friday afternoon, September 26, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church in Sherman, Texas. She passed away Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ. Rev. Cassie Wade of the First United Methodist Church officiated the funeral service. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Cemetery [sic]. Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Tommy Ayers, Ron Coker, Ed Smith, Richard Spicer, Craig Weeks, and Eddie Young. Mrs. Osborne was born March 29, 1923 in Mesquite, Texas. She was a daughter of James Edward Short and Mary Frances Short. She graduated from Mesquite High School in 1940. On May 30, 1943, Martha married Roy C. Osborne in the First United Methodist Church of Ardmore, Oklahoma. They moved to Sherman in 1947. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Osborne owned and operated the Osborne Air Conditioning Co. from 1953 until 1974. Mrs. Osborne was a member of the Woodlawn Ladies Golf Association and the First United Methodist Church where she faithfully attended until declining health prevented her attendance. Mrs. Osborne was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brother, James Herrington Short; sisters, Mary Smith; Josie Siratt, and Virginia Coker. Mrs. Osborne is survived by her son of Whitesboro, Roy C. Osborne, Jr.; sister, Hester Weeks of Round Rock, Texas; nephews, Ron Coker of Pantego, Texas; Ed Smith of Garland, Texas; and Craig Weeks of Round Rock, Texas; nieces: Cynthia Elbe of Lawrenceville, Georgia and Sarah Frerichs of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by former daughter-in-law, Donna Chapman and neighbors Linda and Lee Salinas. Memorial may be made to the First United Methodist Church, Sherman, Texas.
