Established 1948 Anna M. Norris 1920 - Douglas Norris 1916 - 2008 Services for Douglas Norris, 92, of Sherman, Texas were held at 10:30 AM Wednesday, November 26, 2008 at the Waldo Funeral Home Chapel. Burial followed at the Cedarlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Sherman. Services were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. He passed away on Monday, November 24, 2008 at the Texoma Health Care Center in Sherman. He was born in Sherman on May 11, 1916 the son of Adolphus and Cora McAfee Norris. He attended Sherman schools and graduated in 1934. Doug married Anna Margaret Walker on November 19, 1938. They were married for 70 years. He served in WWII in the United Stated Navy. After the war he returned to Sherman and began his career with the Frisco Railroad. He retired in 1980 after serving 39 years as an Engineer. Doug is survived by his wife of 70 years Anna Margaret Walker Norris of Sherman, Texas; son, Harold Norris and wife, Jennie, of Wichita Falls, Texas; daughter, Nancy Cox and husband, Kenneth, of Bonham, Texas; daughter, Martha Reed and husband, John, of Collierville, Tennessee; 7 grandchildren, Angela Hicks of Collierville, Tennessee and Robert Reed of Cordova, Tennessee; Kevin Cox of Bonham, Texas; Kyle Cox of Lubbock, Texas; Chris Norris of Dallas, Texas; Michael Norris and David Norris of Wichita Falls, Texas. He is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren and a host of friends. Doug was a Charter Member of the Woods Street Church of Christ, a member of the American Legion Post 29 and the VFW Post 2772. Memorial contributions may be made to Woods Street Church of Christ 2100 N. Woods Sherman, TX 75090 or Home Hospice of Grayson County. Pallbearers were his grandsons. Honorary pallbearers were the Deacons and Elders from the church and longtime friends, Welby Pleasant and David Johnson.
