Established 1948   DENISON - Nancy Reeves Nix, 86-year-old Denison resident, passed away Saturday, February 27, 2010 at Prairie Estates Senior Facility. Services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 4 at Calvary Baptist Church in Denison with Rev. Danny Broughton officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. Nix was born on January 22, 1924 in Colbert, Oklahoma, daughter of Ira F. and Eulah Lee Willeford Reeves. She was a graduate of Colbert High School, class of 1941. She married Raymond E. Nix on September 22, 1945 in Denison and he preceded her in death on May 17, 1999. Nancy was a representative for Mary Kay Cosmetics for many years. She was a long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church. Nancy and Raymond were very active in rodeo and she was a former rodeo queen. They loved to travel to Colorado with friends, and they enjoyed fellowship with the "cabin group" at Lake Texoma. Her five grandchildren were the joy of her life. Nancy was a very avid gardener and she enjoyed sharing her flowers with others. Pallbearers were Craig McCage, Patrick Nix, Alex Fritchie, Blake Milor, Michael Nix and Lewis Armstrong. Mrs. Nix is survived by her son, Kim Nix and wife Brenda of Marietta, Oklahoma; daughter, Valana Fritchie and husband Mike of Frisco; brothers, Maurice Reeves and wife Sandra of Bonham, Hoss Reeves and wife Billie of Platter, Oklahoma; Sonny Reeves and wife Jimmie of Platter, Oklahoma; and Jimmy Reeves of Dallas; sisters, Virgie Reynolds of Carrollton, Ina Simmons and husband Hal of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and grandchildren, Kimberly McCage, Katie Milor, Patrick Nix, Claire Fritchie and Alex Fritchie. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Nix; and two brothers, Howard and Vernon Reeves. The family suggests memorials to Calvary Baptist Church, 300 W. Acheson St., Denison, TX 75020.
