Established 1948 JoAnn
"Jodi" Moore, 81, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, July 27,
2014. Jodie was born February 7, 1933 in Enid, Oklahoma, daughter
of Virgil and Lena Wegmiller Sanders. She married the love of her
life, O.J. Moore, on August 1, 1952 and would have celebrated their
62nd anniversary on the day she is being laid to rest. Jodi was a
vibrant and energetic woman who raised a wonderful family and still
found the time to work and volunteer extensively. She retired
from Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. in the 1980s and had been
volunteering at the VA hospital in Bonham, Texas and delivering Meals
on Wheels in Denison for years. She was very active in the
American Legion Auxiliary Post 62 in Denison, where she recently served
as vice president. Jodie gave much of herself helping friends and
others in need, but family and neighbors were equally important.
She especially loved her grandchildren, which included many
neighborhood kids, and always rememberd birthdays, holidays and special
occasions. Her heartfelt notes, gifts and care packages were
always comforting. She was a fun spirit, loved to dance, enjoyed
traveling and was a great cook. She also cherished going out and
spending time with her "girlfriend" daughter. She is survived by her husband; son, Jared Moore and wife, Karen, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; daughter, Jana Barber of Allen, Texas; 4 grandchildren, Justin Barber, Jordan Barber, Christiane Moore and Aubrey Moore; sister, Peggy Peckham of Wichita, Kansas; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother,Virgil Sanders, Jr. Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, August 1, 2014 at Fisher Funeral Chapel with Rev. Keith Taylor officiating. Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman, Texas. Odbert Junior "OJ" Moore, 90, was reunited with his wife, Jodi, on Sunday, September 27, 2020. He was born March 12, 1930 in Belington, West Virginia, son of Odbert and Pearl Biller Moore. He joined the Air Force in 1948 and met Jodi while stationed at Vance AFB in Enid, Oklahoma. They were married August 1, 1952 and celebrated nearly 62 years of marriage before her death in 2014. OJ was a veteran serving in Okinawa during the Vietnam conflict as well as being stationed in Iceland, Waco, and Florida. He retired in 1970 after being transferred to Perrin AFB in Sherman. He was only 40, and started a new career in cosmetology/barbering, for which he is most remembered. He eventually purchased his own shop called "Jason's" and was a pioneer in unisex salons. He was once quoted as saying, "Men's hairstyling is here to stay," but he probably had as many women customers as men. OJ was a successful landlord with many single-family rentals in Denison. In his younger years he loved to play golf, was a 200+ bowler, and was an expert pool player, a skill he learned growing up in his uncle's pool hall in West Virginia. He was a great husband, father, and friend with a gift of gab and a big heart. OJ is survived by his daughter, Jana Barber of Denison, Texas; son, Jared Moore and wife, Karen, of Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania; 4 grandchildren: Justin Barber, Jordan Barber, Christiane Moore and Aubrey Moore; younger brother, Sonny Moore and wife, Kathy, of Clarksburg, West Virginia; and numerous other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; older brother, Howard Moore; and older sister, Josephine Searcey. OJ did not want a big funeral and he will be buried next to Jodi at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, following a family attended graveside service. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison.
