George was born in Antlers,
Oklahoma and died after a heart attack at a local hospital in Sherman,
Texas.
George moved to Grayson
County, Texas in 1919 and in 1926 married Miss Hazel Clark in Bonham,
Texas.
For 20 years, he operated a
grocery store – service station near his home on Highway 82 west of Sherman. He
was a member of the Baptist Church.
He was survived by his wife;
a son, James Martin. of Sherman; two daughters, Pat Little of Sherman and Billie
Watkins of Burnett, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Laura Davis. of Ardmore, Oklahoma;
half-sister, Miss Gertie Watson. of Dallas, Texas; two half-brothers, Bert Watson
of Paris, Texas and Bid Watson of Oklahoma; and four grandchildren.
Rev. James Crow, pastor of
the Dorchester Baptist Church and Rev. C.J. Graves of Sherman officiated at
funeral services held at Waldo Funeral Home, Sherman.
Pallbearers were Marvin
Brown, Dewey Tucker, Alton Holloway, T.C. Abitch, Horace Cotton, Raymond
Scoggins, John Bell and L.C. Cummings.

Hazel Martin Brown was born
in Dorchester, Texas, daughter of George D. and Sarah Clark. She died in
Sherman, Texas.
Hazel attended Plainview and
Pleasant Valley Schools. In 1926, she married George Washington Martin in
Bonham, Texas who preceded her in death in 1957.
In 1959, Hazel married
Marvin Brown in Sherman.
During the 1930’s, Mrs.
Martin operated a boarding house in Dorchester where she prepared home cooked
meals for the public. Later she and George owned and operated a service station
and grocery store in Dorchester.
From 1946 to 1970, Hazel
operated Martin’s Grocery and Market on Highway 56 west of Sherman.
She was a member of the
First Baptist Church in Sherman.
Hazel was preceded in death
by her parents; both husbands, brothers, Andrew, Bill, Virgil, Jake, Charlie and
Travis Clark; sisters, Gladys Prichard, Ruby Osborne and Lois Ewing; daughter
Hazel Lee Martin; and grandson, Eric C. Little II.
She was survived by two
daughters, Billie Watkins and husband Marshall of Killeen, Texas, and Pat Little
of Sherman; son, James M. Martin and wife Charlotte of Sherman; and stepson,
Bert Brown and wife Alice of Sherman. She was also survived by nine
grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and eight
great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held
at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, with Rev Bill Mayes of Woods Street Church of Christ
officiating.
Arrangements were under the
direction of Dannel Funeral Home, Sherman.
