Established 1948 John Alden Miller 30 May 1945 - 8 April 2006 Martha Jo Miller 15 September 1943 - John was born in Sherman, Texas, son of Herbert A. and Evelyn Doris Powell Miller. He died at Wilson N. Jones Hospital in Sherman on APril 8, 2006. At a young age, he moved to Mexico where he attended school and after he moved back to Southmayd, Texas, graduating from S&S Consolidated High School in 1963. He married Miss Martha Jo Vessels on July 14, 1962 in Pottsboro, Texas. He was employed by Crookham and Vessels for 10 years, and then worked for Anderson Clayton Plant in Sherman another 10 years. At the time of his death, he had been employed as an estimator for Bill Hazelwood, Inc. for the past 25 years. Known affectionately as "Papa" by his grandchildren, he was a very loving family man. He loved the times spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. He was an avid golfer and played regularly at Woodlawn Country Club. He also loved to travel with his family, including several trips to Hawaii. He enjoyed working in his yard and his shop at home. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Southmayd for several years but had also attended Southmayd Baptist Church with his wife. He was preceded in death by his parents. He was survived by his wife of Sherman; son, Jeff Miller of Chicago, Illinois; 2 daughters, Lisa Miller of Sherman and Terri Roby and husband, Steve, of Pottsboro; a brother, Michael Miller and wife, Elisa, of Sherman; 3 grandchildren, Jacob, Jordon, and Jared Roby of Sherman. He is also survived by his ver special friends, Dana and Randy Bath of Gillette, Wyoming and their children; Tiffani and Toni Bath, whom he considered as his own grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Waldo Funeral Home Chapel in Sherman with Rev. Larry Blain of Southmayd Baptist Church officiating.
