Established 1948 The Herald Democrat August 18, 2010 Denison - Alma L. Mathis, 102, passed away on Monday, August 16, 2010 at Homestead of Denison. Funeral services were held Friday morning, August 20, 2010 at Parkside Baptist Church with Dr. Chet Haney officiating. Pallbearers were nephews. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. Mrs. Mathis was born on June 21, 1908 in Palo Pinto County, daughter of Taylor Gano and Lillian Carroll Condon. She grew up in Denison and attended Golden Rule School. She worked for the Cotton Mill in Denison for 34 years, was a volunteer at the SNAP Center of Denison, and was a member of Parkside Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, T.F. "Wick" Mathis; 7 siblings: Alta Lorene Smith, Lucille Carlson, Roxie Dunn, Clifford Condon, O.C. "Jack" Condon, Ollie Bell "Billie" Miller and Wanda Stephenson. She is survived by her sister, Venita "Pete" Villines; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and nephews; great-great-nieces and nephews; great-great-great-nieces and nephews. Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.
