Established 1948 DENISON - Vivian Wells Muenzler of Denison passed away August 20, 2010 in Plano. Mrs. Muenzler was born April 7, 1919 in Elgin. She was the daughter of Edith Ellen Thompson and John Henry Wells. She graduated from high school in Pawnee, where she was a high-ranking student academically. She received her B.A. degree from Trinity University in San Antonio, her M.A. degree from Austin College in Sherman and did post-graduate certification in the area of Special Education from Texas Woman's University in Denton. On June 6, 1942, Vivian Wells married Walter Edwin Muenzler in Pawnee. They had three daughters, Carol, Susan and Jane. Vivian is survived by her husband of 68 years, Walt Muenzler; daughters Carol Barron of Dallas and Jane Douglass of Austin. She also has six grandchildren, Guy Michael Barron of Austin, Trey, Graham and Travis Douglass of Dallas, Jay Huffman of Houston and Laura Hayes of Georgia. She also has seven great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her daughter, Susan Huffman; her parents; two brothers, B.W. Wells, Howard Wells; and a sister Lois Lindgren of Waco. Mrs. Muenzler was an educator, teacher/administrator in various public schools of Texas for 28 years. During her long career, she touched and enriched many children's lives, teaching life lessons as well as academic. While active in public schools of Texas, Mrs. Muenzler was also active in educational related organizations such as NEA, TSTA, PTA organizations, Delta Kappa Gamma, Phi Beta Kappa and the American Association of University Women. After retirement, she did volunteer community service in the Denison Service League. She has been a long-standing and active member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and Waples Methodist Church of Denison. Mrs. Muenzler will be greatly missed and remembered by her family as a loving mother, wife, skilled homemaker, and accomplished educator. Graveside services were held Tuesday afternoon, August 24, 2010 in The Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.
