Established 1948 James B. Mandeville 1924 - 2006 Frances D. Mandeville 1922 - 2017 Jim was the son of Samuel DeWitt Mandeville and Lyda Bell Mandeville. He graduated from high school in Tennille, Georgia; North Georgia College in Dahlonega, Georgia and the University of Georgia. On 18 April 1944 in Augusta, Georgia, he married Frances Daniel. He was a very loving husband for 61 years. On 26 February 1951 he entered the United States Air Force in Tennille, Georgia and served as a Fighter Jet pilot; he retired at Perrin Air Force Base, Sherman, Texas on 31 October 1970 with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Jim was a very loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-law. He enjoyed watching his grandson play basketball in high school and at Austin College, Sherman, Texas. He also enjoy going to the Master golf tournament in Augusta, Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sherman. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Samuel Mandeville Jr. He was survived by his wife, Frances of Sherman; son, Ben Mandeville and wife, Judy of Sherman, and one grandson, Hunter Mandeville; and a special friend, Melissa Patterson. A graveside service was held Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman for Frances Mandeville, 95, of Sherman who passed away at Traditions, Wednesday, December 13, 2017. Chaplain Noblett officiated. Frances was born October October 22, 1922 in Waynesboro, Georgia to Floyd and Carrie Daniel, the youngest of 9 chidren. She was raised in Waynesboro and then the family moved to Tennille, Georgia, where Frances graduated from high school and also met the love of her life, James "Jim" B. Mandeville. Jim joined the United States AIr Force and became a pilot. On April 18, 1944, on the day Lt. Mandeville earned his wings, he and Frances became husband and wife. This prompted Jim's father to comment to his son, "You got your wings and got them clipped on the same day." Frances and Jim celebrated 61 years of marriage before he passed in January 2006. Jim and Frances lived in many places, including Japan, Dominican Republic, Colorado, Arizona, and eventually settled in Texas where Jim retired from the Air Force in 1970. While their travels took them to many foreign places, Frances would study different languages. She was a true Southern Belle from Georgia and carried with her a distinctive Georgia accent. Whether she was speaking a foreign language or English, her "Southern" accent was one of the many qualities that made her unique and very memorable to anyone fortunate enough to know her. Frances sincerely loved people and she loved life. She was one of a kind. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and 8 siblings. She is survived by her son, James B. "Ben" Mandeville and his wife, Judy, of Sherman; and grandson, Hunter Mandeville and wife, Cassandra, of Plano; and many nieces, nephews and friends. - - - Dannel Funeral Home.
