McGowen 7 May 1929 - 1 December 2013  Funeral services for Jacquelyn McGowen will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday May 22nd in the Covenant Presbyterian Church. Rev. Neill Morgan of the church will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mrs. McGowen, 81, passed away Wednesday, May 19 at Zale Lipshy Hospital at the Southwestern Medical School in Dallas. Mrs. McGowen is survived by her husband R.B. McGowen, Jr. of Sherman; two sons, R.B. Jerry McGowen and Jack McGowen, both of Sherman; one sister, Jennie Thrasher of Monahan, Texas; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Mrs. McGowen was a member of several literary clubs, various bridge clubs, and the Woodlawn Ladies Golf Association. Jackie was a 1945 graduate of Monahans High School. She graduated from Tulsa University in 1949 with a degree in music, and was a lifelong Presbyterian church member. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 Friday at Waldo Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Matthew McGowen, John T. Audas, Blake Peden, Bill Thrasher, Michael Thrasher and Brian Thrasher. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Psalm 150 Music Fund at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 322 W. Pecan, Sherman, TX 75090.
