Established 1948 Ronald
Lewis Lemons passed away April 2, 2021 at the Clyde Cosper Texas
Veterans Home where he was a resident for the last couple of years. Ron
was born in Cynthiana, Kentucky on May 6, 1947, son of Aubrey E. Lemons
and Junita Ruth Curtis. He grew up in Cynthiana and was
very close to his grandmother and cousins. His father passed when
he was 13, and his mother married Charles H. Oakley, Sr. They moved
from Kentucky to Grand Rapids, Michigan in 1965 when Ron was in high
school. Ron enlisted in the US Air Force at the age of 18, proudly serving his country including a year long deployment in South Vietnam under the 635 Combat Support Group of the Pacific Command. Ron was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged, Ron settled in northern California, marrying his wife, Patricia McKenzie in 1975. Ron leveraged his unique ability to fix almost anything and became a Master Service Technician for a local Chevrolet dealer. In addition to his full-time position, he also owned and operated Ron & Pat's Auto Body Shop. Through his marriage with Pat, he helped raise 2 children, Michael & DeeDee, along with 2 granddaughters, Cassie & Michelle. Just a few years ago he was also blessed with a great-granddaughter, Hailey. Bob loved to play golf and frequently would accumulate his entire work vacation and spend the summer in Sherman, Texas playing golf every day at Woodland Country Club. He especially loved to play in the 4-ball scramble tournaments with his mother and brother as teammates. In 2015 Ron moved to Sherman, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Lorna Dale Drake. He leaves behind his wife of Antioch, California; brother, Charles Oakley, Jr. of Phoenix, Arizona; nephews, Joshua of Aubrey, Texas; Nicholas Oakley of Phoenix, Arizona; nieces, Haleigh Beth Sowerby of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Emily Linke of Dallas, Texas; and great-niece, Savannah Oakley of Sherman, Texas.
