Established 1948 Elizabeth Louise Larsen-Stokes 12 October 1926 - 23 May 2005 US Air Force Korea The Herald Democrat Thursday, May 26, 2005 Mrs. Elizabeth Louise "Betty" Stokes passed away at the age of 78 years at the House of Ruth Hospice in Denison on Monday, May 23, 2005, after a prolonged illness. She was born in 1926 in Omaha, Nebraska, daughter of Henry and Ruth Larsen. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas, Texas and graduated from Texas State College for Women in Denton, Texas. She worked many years as a Medical Technologist (ASCP-MT) in Ft. Worth, Texas in the U.S. Air Force, in Dallas, Texas, in Ohio and Indiana. She had one sister, Ruth Eleanor Field, now deceased and one brother, Henry Lee Larsen, of Denton, Texas. She had 2 sons, M. Earl Stokes, of Pagosa Springs, Colorado and Thomas Andrew Stokes of Ft. Worth, Texas. She had 7 grandsons, 7 nephews and 5 great-grandchildren. In 1954 she married M. Young Stokes, III. In 1969 she and Dr. Stokes moved to Denison, Texas. She was active in Waples Memorial United Methodist Church, UMW, PEO, Embroiders Guild, and was founder of Texoma Council for the Deaf, She had been in failing health for 5 years. The family request that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 7610 N. Stemmons Freeway, Suite 600, Dallas, Texas 75247.
