Lubbers 25 June 1920 - 15 December 1999 Private US Army WWII  The Herald Democrat November 12, 2010 Sherman - Funeral services for Lizzie Marie Lubbers, 86, of Sherman were held Saturday afternoon, November 13, 2010 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park Chapel on the Hill. Arrangements were under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home in Sherman. She passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Homestead of Sherman Nursing Home. Marie was born August 27, 1924 in Sherman, daughter of Luther W. and Susie Sikes Thompson. She married Verney "Bud" Lubbers on June 10, 1944 in Sherman. He preceded her in death in December of 1999. Marie was a retired RN and spent her life taking care of people. She loved cooking, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her family. Marie is survived by her son, Bill Lubbers and wife, Mary, of Sherman; daughter, Shirley Richardson and husband, Bobby Joe, of Sherman; daughter, Wanda Gibbs and husband, Steve, of Gainesville; Texas; daughter, Judy Ferrell of Sherman; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband; 3 brothers and 2 sisters. Pallbearers were Bruce Melton, Ernest Melton, Randy Watson, Jerry Adams, Jeremy Capps and Michael Fisher.
