Established 1948 The Herald Democrat June 6, 2012 Denison - On Friday, June 1, 2012 God called one of his most precious Angels home, Estella (GaGa) Johnson was surrounded by her loving family and friends. Funeral services were held Friday morning, Jujne 8, 2012 at Hopewell Baptist Church with Rev. C.E. Evans officiating. Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Estealla was born on July 14, 1940 in Denison, daughter of Leonard and Inell Jones Wimberly. She was a graduate of Terrell High School, class of 1958. She worked at Diaper Jeans, Levi Strauss, and Safeway plants until they closed. Upon retirement, Estella was active in the "Foster Grandparents Program" for TCOG at Golden Rule Elementary for 14 years. She was an active member of Hopewell Baptist Church until her health failed her, but demanded her children and grandchildren remain active. She loved to cook, spoil her children,, grandchildren, and especially her great-grandchildren. Estella was also a very talented seamstress, and also enjoyed arts and crafts as well. Her legacy lives on through her family. Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving children: Gary Wimberly of Atoka, Oklahoma; Regina Johnson, Laura Johnson, Nicki Ross, and Brian Johnson, all of Denison; grandchildren: Rachel, Rodney, Ryan (Stevie), RoLonda, Raquel (Robert), Robyn, RoNeka, Brandon, and Reonte; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Ira Wimberly of Houston; sisters, Mildred Wallace of Denison and Addie Armstrong of San Antonio; special niece, Gail Wimberly; special friends, Myrtle Ransom, Ann Holmes and Carol Kemp. She is preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Lillian and Marion; and step-father, Don McCollum. Arrangements were under the direction of Fisher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.
