Established 1948 Sandra Jean Johnson, 71, of McAlister, Oklahoma passed away Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Walnut Grove Living Center in McAlister. Sandra was born on July 12, 1946 in Utica, New York, daughter of William R. Doty and Rosaline Farr Doty. She married Eugene Johnson on September 29, 1980 in Durant, Oklahoma. Sandra moved from New York to Texas in the mid-1960s, then moved to Oklahoma in 1980. She loved her dogs, but most of all her family. Sandra was a great cook and enjoyed sewing for her family. She was talented and could do anything that she set her mind to. She enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a true Yankee and chocolate held a special place in her heart. She always made it a point to have her nails and make-up on. She was a great shopper and loved to give gifts. Music was very special to her. As a young person she loved ice skating and the snow in New York. Christmas was her favorite time of the year. She was a wonderful story teller and told of her years in New York, how she was raised on a dairy farm and rode the subway. She was a spitfire and a real force to deal with when it came to her kids and family. She is survived by her husband of 37 years of their home; daughter, Khristy Rains of Holdenville, Oklahoma and her children, Meloney Provence and husband, Coy, of Holdenville, Oklahoma; Nikki Kilhooffer and Tyler of Altus, Oklahoma; and Anthony Rains of Tampa, Florida; and daughter, Lori Barnett and husband, John, of Denison, Texas and their children, Brittani Barnett and Christopher Barnett of Denison, Texas; sister, Sally Nunley of Denison, Texas; 6 great-grandchildren, Aiden, Gracie and Steve Provence; Jack and Andi Kilhooffer; Kinslee Ann Barnett of Denison; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services were held at Chapel on the Hill in Cedarlawn Cemetery, Sherman, Texas on Monday afternoon, September 13, 2017 with minister Gary Davenport officiating.
