A-14 Services for Ody Jay, 83, of Sherman were held January 25, at the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Oatis officiating. He died at IHS of Texoma. Ody was the son of Ody Edgar Jay, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Wilson. On February 9, 1950 in Sherman he married Johnnie Leigh Booth. Ody and Johnnie had 4 children - Gary Lynn, Patricia Ann, Ronald David, and James Edgar. Ody was a veteran of the Navy, serving in Guam during World War II. Ody retired as foreman after 33 years with the City of Sherman Water Department. He is survived by his wife; sons, Gary and wife, Linda; and Ronnie and wife, Rhonda; and James and wife, Linda; sister, Olna McFarland; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Patricia Ann; and brother, Overton Jay. Herald Democrat Monday, June 5, 2006 Sherman - Funeral services for Johnnie Booth Jay were held Monday morning, June 5, at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Jo Ed Furr of the Western Heights Church of Christ officiated, with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Jay passed away Friday, June 2, 2006 at Community Specialty Hospital at the age of 90. Johnnie was born on February 9, 1916 in Olney, Texas to John and Lora Kean Booth. On June 9, 1950 she married Ody E. Jay, Jr. in Sherman. They were married nearly 53 years until his passing in January 2003. Johnnie worked in the cafeteria at Dillingham for many years and will be remembered as a hard worker, always providing and caring for her children and grandchildren. Nanny Jay was the living example of the matriarch for her family. During retirement, Mrs. Jay enjoyed working cross-word puzzles.
