Friday, July 20, 1956 pg. 4 Billy N. Jay, 32, fireman at Perrin Air Force Base for the past 6 years, died about 9:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 11, apparently from a heart attack suffered at his home, 626 W. Woodard. Funeral services were held at Bratcher-Moore chapel Friday afternoon at 4. Rev. J.D. Ross, Assembly of God minister, officiated and interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Jay is reported to have been in good health and spirit and had been watching television in the living room of the Matt Callaway's where he lived. He went up stairs to retire about 9:30 and evidently suffered a heart attack at that time. Mrs. Jay called downstairs to the Callaways and when they rushed upstairs, they found Jay crumpled up on the kitchen floor. An ambulance and doctor was called. An inquest was conducted by Judge J.R. DeBusk and his report said death came from natural causes. Mr. Jay was born in Howe, September 26, 1932, son of Mr. and Mrs. W.N. Jay. He attended school in Howe and Sherman. He was employed as a city bus driver in Sherman and Denison and had served with the ground crew of the Air Force in World War II in the South Pacific. He was married September 28, 1952 to Betty Watson. He was a member of the Assembly of God church, the American Legion and the VFW. Survivors are his widow; Mrs. Betty Jay; a daughter, Deborah Ann and a step-daughter, Phyllis Raye Jay; a brother, Hershal Wayne Jay, Corpus Christi and a sister, Mrs. George McAda, Richardson, Texas.
