Established 1948 The Herald Banner November 29, 2010 Denison - Alma Lois (Wylie) Hughes, 84, passed away on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, November 30, 2010 at Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas. Rev. Mark Mitchell officiated. Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman. Alma was born on January 29, 1926 in Atoka, Oklahoma, daughter of Benjamin and Nova Brown Wylie. She married Albert Daniel Hughes on June 14, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. Alma worked for Texas Instruments as an engineering technician. In her retirement years, she enjoyed driving her Winnebago and traveling. A large part of her life was her church, Hyde Park Baptist Church, which she was a member of for many years. Alma loved to crochet, was a wonderful cook who is well known for her big holiday meals and her desserts. She loved speinding time with the grandchildren and her dogs. Alma is lovingly remembered by her son, Wylie and wife, Debra Hughes of Denison; daughter, Frances Pangle of Garland; grandchildren, Reggie Bassett, Nova Pangle, John Pangle, and Dosky Allard; Tammy Mitchell and fiance, Kenny Broughton; Holly and husband, Brian High; great-grandchildren, O.T. Mitchell, John D. Pangle; Joshua Pangle; Brittany Pangle; Logan High; and Lawson High. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Donna Bassett; sisters, Joyce Buckner and Blonnie Crews; great-grandson, Jamie Mitchell; son-in-law, Kenneth Bassett. Arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of Bratcher Funeral Home, Denison, Texas.
