She was preceded in death by her parents, Amos Ivy and Opal Edith Marlar; her husband, Capt. Robert Daniel Hardy; her son, Trenton Lane Fenex; and her daughter, Sabra Ann Fenex. She was born on February 10, 1929 in Carlsbad, New Mexico and died in Boerne, Texas, where she had lived for the past 32 years. She was 85 years of age. Even though Edith grew up on a ranch in West Texas, she went onto become a noted interior designer. She worked at Fingers in Houston and had her own design business in Houston. Then Louis Shanks recruited her talents for their business in Austin and she was one of their designers who opened the Louis Shanks in San Antonio, where she retired. She had designed houses all over the country and even went to Italy to purchase art and furniture for her business. She loved her family, flowers and gardening, music and dancing, cooking, reading and politics. She was independent and worked hard every day of her life. She had a great gift of gab and never met a stranger. Edith was a beautiful woman, both inside and out; and she always had an amazing sparkle in her beautiful blue eyes. Edith married Capt. James Edward Fenex, Jr. in 1962; he was a United State Army Air Force fighter ace; he had 5 confirmed kills, one probably kill, and 2 damaged enemy aircraft. Edith married Eugene Kenneth Boggs in 1968. Edith married Robert Daniel Hardy, a Captain in the United States Air Force; he is buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Edith is survived by her daughter and son-in-law; 3 grandsons; 5 great-grandchildren; and her precious great-great-granddaughter. A Celebration of Edith's life was held Saturday, April 26, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Boerne, Texas. Arrangements were with Ebensberger-Fisher Funeral Home of Boerne. Note: It is presumed her ashes were given to a relative and may have been placed in the plot near her parents. There is no marked for her grave.
