Established 1948 Denison - Funeral for Cecil F. Hardy, 77, who died Thursday morning in his home, was held Saturday afternoon at Johnson-Moore Chapel, conducted by Rev. Dale Gore. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Hardy was born March 24, 1909 in Denison, Texas, son of Mr. and Mrs. G.W. Hardy. He graduated from electronics school and married Zelda Dawson on August 9, 1945 in McKinney, Texas. He was owner of Denison Electronic Supply, a Baptist and member of Knights of Pythias, Elks Lodge and the Chamber of Commerce. During World War II, he was a member of the Service Command. Survivors include his wife; 4 sons, Clifford F., Raymond and Lee A. Hardy of Denison; and Larry Buchannan of Yukon, Oklahoma; daughter, Janice Mathews of Denison; 2 brothers, Eugene of Dallas and Herbert of Denison; 9 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren. Joe Dee Ray officiated and burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. She died Friday, November 12, 2010 at her residence. Mrs. Hardy was born July 7, 1924 in Bennington, Oklahoma, daughter of Lanham Issac and Rhea Cotton Dawson. She married Cecil F. Hardy. Mrs. Hardy was a member of First Baptist Church and owned and operated with her husband Denison Radio Supply; and later she worked for many years with her son, Lee. Surviving are her sons, Larry Buchanan and wife, Bobbi, of Yukon, Oklahoma; Lee Hardy and wife, Donna of Denison; stepsons, Clifford Hary and wife, Joan, of Denison; and Raymond Hardy and wife, Rita, of Denison; daughter, Janice Bryant and husband, Steve, of Denison; brothers, Lanham Issac Dawson, Jr. and wife, Betty, of Oklahoma City; and Gale Dawson and wife, Linda of Yukon, Oklahoma; sisters, Faye Hamilton of South Carolina and Jerry Beaird and husband, Wayne, of Kilgore, Texas; and 9 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and 3 brothers. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to a favorite charity.
