Sherman - Services for Marvin Haynie, 90, of Sherman who passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2005 ar Sherman Healthcare were held Monday afternoon, April 11, 2005 at Key Memorial United Methodist CHurch, 901 E. Houston, Sherman, Texas with Rev. Allen Snider officiating.  Interment followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park.  Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
Marvin T. Haynie, son of Ezra Wilson Haynie and Ora Esta Barber haynie was born April 8, 1914, in Sherman, Texas.  He was a graduate of Sherman HIgh School and took his first employment with Kimbell Diamond Milling Company.
On August 14, 1941 he entered military service and served in the 557th A.W.Battalion of the 12th AIr FOrce in Alaska, the ALuetian Islands, Adack and Dutch Harbor.  He was discharged from the military on October 25, 1945 and returned to SHerman where he was employed by Chase Chevrolet as a parts clerk.
He met and married Mary Zela Reynolds on July 30, 1947 in Sherman.  The couple celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary before her death in  1994.
Mr. Haynie also worked for A.J. Thomas Motor Company and at Montgomery Ward where he retired after 26 years in 1979 and refocused his attention to "Haynie's Decorative Posts."  As a "specialist in duplicate turnings" he designed and built the machines that he used to create ornament woodwork for the historical C.S. Roberts house and gazebo on South Crockett, the fluted ionice columns outside the Waldo Funeral Home Chaple, and in custom-designed stairways in many of Sherman's new and luxury homes.
He was  a member of the Key Memorial United Methodist Church for 50 years and a member of the VFW Post 2772.
Mr.  Haynie was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
He is survived by his son, Dean Haynie of Austin; and a brother, F.L. Haynie of Amarillo, Texas.
