April 5, 1979 Services for Dixie C. Gordon, 94-year-old retired Denison farmer and music teacher, who died Wednesday at a Denison hospital, were held Saturday morning at Bratcher Funeral Chapel. Rev. A.D. Campbell of the Harless Methodist Church officiated. Burial was at Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. Mr. Gordon was born in Collin County, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pitts Gordon, and was married to Melissa Katherine Carmichael on October 12, 1902 in Desert. He was a member of the Harless Methodist Church where he served as choir director for 14 years. He also operated service stations and was a Watkins salesman. Surviving are his sons, Ancil Gordon of Seagraves and J.T. Gordon of Big Springs; daughters, Mrs. Winnie Nicholas of Denison and Mrs. Tom McKee of Bells; 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Ancil H. October 4, 1991 Denison - Services for Ancil H. Gordon, 88-year-old retired schoolteacher of Denison, were held Saturday afternoon in Bratcher Funeral Home. He died Thursday at Care Inn Nursing Home in Denison. Rev. Jerry Miller officiated, with burial in Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Mr. Gordon was born in Collin County, the son of Dixie and Catherine Gordon, and was a graduate of East Texas State University, On November 29, 1985, he married Leola Harbison in Denison. He taught school for 45 years in Grayson, Fannin, Cooke and Gaines counties. He was a 50-year Mason, and a member of the Seagraves Masonic Lodge and the First Baptist Church in Denison. Surviving are his wife; stepsons, Luther Harbison and Robert Harbison, both of Carrollton; stepdaughters, Anna Moon of Bristol, Mary Morris of Kemp, Ada Salsman of Denton, Linda Kemp of Florida and Catherine Morgan of Denison; brother, Joe Gordon of Arlington; and sisters, Winnie Nicholas of Denison and Louie McKee of Bells.
