Established 1948 Ruby "Nina" Gullett 16 November 1905 - 24 December 1991 Charles H. Gullett 12 November 1902 - 12 May 1985 Major U.S. Army WWII GULLETT, CIVIC LEADER DIES Charles H. "Chick" Gullett, 77, veteran Denison attorney and civic leader, died in a local hospital Sunday after a brief illness. Funeral was Tuesday morning in Bratcher Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Tom Peel, minister of Waples Memorial Methodist Church, officiating with burial in Cedarlawn Cemetery. Gullett was born November 12, 1902 in Indian Territory, son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. Gullett. He was educated at Murray State College in Tishimingo and took his law degree at the University of Michigan. He launched his practice in Denison in 1933 with his brothers, Alex Gullett and Pat Riley. He was married to Nina Hestand in Sherman on June 28, 1947. He werved in the 9th Infantry Division in World War II, and was a Major on the Judge Advocate's staff when the war ended. He was a former president of the Denison Chamber of Commerce, Denison Rotary Club, and the Grayson County Bar Association. He had served the city of Denison as a special attorney in the 1950s and 1960s. Gullett served as a special attorney for Grayson College without charge....and was recently given a citation by the college board for his endeavors. Gullett was a member of the American, Texas and Grayson Bar Associations, the BPOE, Methodist Church and Rotary Club. He served 4 years as a director of the Citizens National Bank, now Texas American Bank, and in 1978 moved from an active director into an advisory capacity. Survivors include his widow; and one brother, Pat Riley, of Denison. Pallbearers were Rayburn Nall, Judge Ralph Elliott, Judge R.C. Vaughan, Kenneth Mills, David Bayless, Sr.; Frank Massey and Judge Horace Goff.
