Established 1948 Bonnie E. Garrett 1940 - 2017 James "Buck" Garrett 1935 - 2010 Sherman - James Elbert Garrett, 75, stepped through heaven's gates on August 31, 2010. A celebration of his life was held Friday morning, September 3, 2010 at Waldo Funeral Home. Rev. Dalton Jaco officiated with Mr. Garrett's grandsons serving as pallbearers. Burial was at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. James was born July 12, 1935 in Blossom, Texas, son of Vollie and Pearl Weems Garrett. He married Bonnie Head on December 24, 1956 in Childress, Texas. Buck, as he was known to family and friends, worked at ConAgra until his retirement in 1990. His hobbies included metal detecting, listening to country music and dancing with his daughters. We will miss listening to him play the harmonica. James was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son and brother. He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sons, Wayne, Timothy and Thomas Garrett; his grandson, Anthony Pittman; and one sister, Evelyn Donovan. James is survived by his wife of 53 years, Bonnie; 5 children and their spouses, Karen & Noel Young; Beverly Garrett; Troy & Della Garrett; Charlotte & Patrick Grissom; and Jennifer & Ron Ziegelbauer. He is also survived by 24 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; 4 brothers, Goble Garrett of Childress; Clyde Garrett of North Carolina; Carlos Garrett and Junior Garrett of Terrell; and 7 sisters, Edith Perry of Dallas; Roxie Hyde of Terrell; Barbara Wallace and Norma Longley of Forney; Glenda Gorum and Patricia Harris of Arkansas' and Cindy Pierce of Hollis. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made "In Memory of Shane Loy" to Paige Loy at 10670 Upland Rd, Sand Springs, Oklahoma 74063. Bonnie Garrett, 76, formerly of Sherman, relocated to heaven on September 3, 2017 in Sherman. Bonnie was born in Porum, Oklahoma, daughter of Franklin and Opal Head on October 14, 1940. She married James Garrett on December 24, 1956 in Childress, Texas. She became a beloved mother and homemaker. Bonnie enjoyed spending time with family, sewing, quilting, puzzles, and watching "Judge Judy" and "Dr. Phil." Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Timothy, Thomas, and Wayne Garrett; siblings, Dale and Lloyd Head and Betty Klaus. Bonnis is survived by her daughters, Karen Young and husband, Noel; Beverly Garrett; Charlotte Grissom and husband, Patrick; and Jennifer Ziegelbauer and husband, Ron, of Sherman; and son, Troy and Della Garrett of St. Louis; siblings, Sue Potter of Oregon; Albert Head of Childress; Jake Head of Missouri; and Joe Head of Abilene; 26 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held in Waldo Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday morning, September 7, 2017 with Pastor Rob Shepherd of East Sherman Baptist Church officiating.
