Established 1948   Dorothy Gabriel "Courtesy of Cedarlawn Memorial Park"  The Herald Democrat February 11, 2010 SHERMAN - Dorothy Jean Gabriel was born on July 14, 1941, in Sherman, Texas to O.K. and Dorothy Sadler. She graduated from Fred Douglas High School in Sherman. In September 1974, Dorothy was united in marriage to the late Lennis Gabriel. Before her earthly journey ended on Feb. 8, 2010, at Wilson N. Jones Medical Center in Sherman, she was a member of the Friendly Church of God in Christ in Sherman. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Lennis Gabriel; father O.K. Sadler; and mother, Dorothy Scruggs Sadler. Left to cherish precious memories are her son, Reginald (Sandy) Knight of Sherman; stepsons, Billy Don Boyd of Duluth, Minn., and Fred Green of Whitewright; daughters, Regina (Sil) Carr of Richardson, Tina (Cleo) Frost of Sherman and Karrie (Darian) Curry of Sherman; mother-in-law Willie Mae Gabriel of Sherman; brothers, Ronnie Boyd of Sherman, Donnie Boyd of Sherman, John Wayne Boyd of Oklahoma City, Okla., Larry Boyd of Sherman, Ralph White of Stockton, Calif. and George Boyd of St. Paul, Minn.; sisters, Shirley McKinney of Sherman, Tina Ellis of Denver, Colo., Barbara Reed of Sherman and Billie Hayes of Dallas; 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Friendly Church of God in Christ, 711 E. Lamar in Sherman with Bishop T.W. Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. The family visitation will be held from 7 -8 p.m Friday at Angelic Mortuary in Sherman. Public viewing will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. The family will be at their home, 2217 Duke Drive in Sherman.
