The Denison Press Friday, November 1, 1957 pg. 4 JOHN C. FIELDS Funeral services for John C. Fields, 76, were held at Johnson-Moore Funeral Home Sunday afternoon. Rev. Gene Nicely officiated and interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park, Sherman, Texas. Mr. Fields died Thursday, October 24, 1957 at 11 p.m. His home was at 616 W. Day. He was a native of Denison, born here August 25, 1887, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert L. Fields. He attended Denison schools and farmed until he went to work for the Katy as carman in 1912. He quit in 1922 and went back to farming. In 1938 he returned to work for the Katy as car inspector. He was married in Sherman January 5, 1917 to Arlena [sic] Cobble of Bells. Survivors are his widow; 4 sons, John D., Jr., of Dallas; Howard H. of Sherman; Kenneth of Long Beach, California; and R.E. Fields in the U.S. Air Force in Wyoming; one daughter, Mrs. Margaret West of Dallas; a brother, Harry Fields, Canadian, Texas; a sister, Mrs. Fred Carpenter, Weatherford, Texas; and 9 grandchildren.
