Established 1948 Sherman Democrat October 15, 1958 Howe - Funeral services were held Thursday in the First Methodist Church here for Virgil Fielder 68, Howe garage owner who died at 5:45 am Tuesday in a Dallas hospital. Mr. Fielder was fatally injured when struck by a bale of cotton at the Sherman Compress Co. Rev. Maxey B. Burch of Irving, former pastor, Rev. C. J. Graves of Sherman and Rev Lamont Rouse conducted the services. Burial was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park directed by the Barrett Funeral Home, Sherman. Pallbearers were Bill Mayo, Alton Sollis, G. T. McDonald, George Cavender, Murray Aiken, Clark Bowden, Coy Poole and Edwin Cooper. The body was taken to the church at 1 pm Thursday. Mr. Fielder was born in Pilot Grove December 17, 1889, a son to Mr. & Mrs. John William Fielder. On February 28, 1911 he married Miss Clyde Brooks in Howe. He was a member of the Methodist Church. Survivors besides his wife are three daughters, Mrs. Homer Ray of Sherman; Mrs. Alec Kertini of Rockville, Missouri; and Miss Frances Fielder of Arlington, Virginia; one son J. W. Fielder of Farmers Branch, Texas; five brothers, Hodge Fielder of Whitesboro; Oscar Fielder of Sherman; Leonard Fielder of Oklahoma; Charlie Fielder of Deniso; and Richard Fielder of California; three sister, Mrs. Ollie Durrett of Sherman; Mrs. L. C. Bell of Denison; and Mrs. Otis Addington of Haynesville, Louisiana; and six grandchildren. Sherman Democrat June 10, 1979 Services were held at Monday in the Howe First United Methodist Church for Mrs. Clyde Brooks Fielder, 86, widow of 416 Beatrice St, Howe, Texas, who died at a Sherman Nursing Home Friday. Services were conducted by Rev. Millard Fairchild of the Howe First United Methodist Church, with burial at Cedarlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Fielder was born in Collin County, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James William Brooks and was married to the late Virgil Fielder on February 28, 1911 at Howe. She had lived in the Howe area most all her life where she was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Surviving are son, James W. Fielder of Farmers Branch, Texas; daughters, Mrs. Mabel Ray of Howe; Miss Frances Fielder of Arlington, Virginia; Mrs. Clara Kritini of Gaithersburg, Maryland; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were M. E. Moses, Coy Pool, Murray Aikens, George Cavender, G. T. McDonough and Edwin Cooper.
