Chief
Warrant Officer Fleener was born in Highland, Kansas, the son of Carl
Olin and Rhodie V. Dyke Fleener. He died at Texoma Medical Center in
Denison, Texas.
On
March 21, 1957, he married Eugenia L. Moseley, in Pennsauken, New
Jersey. She served in the Nurse Corps of the United States Navy during
World War II and retired with the grade of Lieutenant Commander.
Mr.
Fleener retired from the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II on Iwo
Jima. He was one of remaining five survivors of the bombing of Pearl
Harbor. U.S. Congressman Ralph Hall presented him with a gold medal in
honor of the event. His mother was given a pin with an Eagle and five
stars for having five sons in the military at the same time.
He was in real estate,
farming and ranching and was a member of the Methodist faith.
He
is survived by his daughter, Leland and husband Bodie McMahan of
Denison; granddaughters, Annette Duncan and Veronica Hedges;
step-granddaughter Laura McMahan; step-grandsons, Jack McMahan and
Lawrence McMahan Jr.; 16 great-grandchildren and 11
great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral
services were held at Bratcher Funeral Home Chapel, Flora “Flo” Covey
officiated.
Mrs. Fleener was born in Weston,
Texas, daughter of Tom and May Mosley. She died at Texoma Specialty
Care Unit, Sherman, Texas.
She attended
Celina High School and University of Texas Austin.
She served
in the Nurse Corps of the United States Navy during World War II and
retired with the grade of Lieutenant Commander.

1957, she married CWO4 Leland Lawrence Fleener, U.S.Navy (Ret), in
Pennsauken, New Jersey.
She was a
member of the Nurse Corps and was of the Baptist faith.
Left
to cherish her memories, she was survived by her husband, of Denison,
Texas; stepdaughter, Lelanda McMahon of Denison; three grandchildren,
Annette, Jackie and Veronica; sister, Nancy Baum of Whitewright, Texas;
brothers, Thomas Moseley of Celina, Texas and Frank Moseley of Rowlett,
Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral
services were held at Bratcher Funeral Home with the Rev. Mark Mitchell
officiating. Burial followed at Cedarlawn Memorial Park with a Navy honor
guard conducting graveside services.
Pallbearers were Phillip Moseley, Todd Osborne, Randy Bearden, Donnie
Spurlock, Steve Baum and Aaron Bearden.
