Established 1948 Sherman Herald Democrat October 23, 2009 SHERMAN - Graveside services for Mary Sue Daves were held on Saturday morning, October 24, 2009 at Cedarlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Daves passed away Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at the Denison Manor at the age of 77. Mary was born on September 14, 1932 in Nashville, Arkansas to John Henry May and Maudie (Stringer) May. She attended Oklahoma schools and married Lorn "Shorty" Daves on June 6, 1951 in Durant. They were married for more than 42 years when he passed away in August 1994. Mary was a devoted homemaker, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and their times together. She was an avid reader and enjoyed dancing. She was a lifelong Baptist. Mrs. Daves is survived by daughter, Donna Wiggins and her husband, Dave, of Pottsboro; granddaughters, Paula Waw and husband, Chris, of Sherman; Lesa Winter and husband, Bryan, of Denison; and Shannon Galligan and husband, Jared, of Sachse; great-grandchildren, Angela Baze of Pottsboro; Brandon Taylor of Sherman; Adam and Emily Waw of Sherman; and Jocee McCullar of Denison; great-great-grandchildren, Nate Whitten of Denison and Grace Pearson of Pottsboro; sisters, Mozelle Osborne of Big Spring, and Judy Perryman of Pottsboro; and brothers, Bill May, John May, and Jack May, all of Kemp, Oklahoma. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one sister, Novella Spence.
