Established 1948 Frank Lacy Darnell, Jr. of Denison, Texas passed away November 30, 2019 in Flower Mound, Texas. Frank worked for Montgomery Ward for many years. Frank took care of his beautiful wife from 1977 to 2009. During their life together they took many day trips with their children, including trips to Colorado, as he loved the mountains. He once had a trailer house in Ruidoso, New Mexico. Frank enjoyed taking his wife to Shreveport to play slot machines. He also enjoyed dancing with his wife and strived to ensure she and the children had lasting memories of their life together. Riding motorcycles and eating peppermint ice cream would bring a smile to his face every time. His smile was contagious and he always looked on the bright side. In his later years Frank found joy in making shadow puppets with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Frank loved Denison and was always ready to drive around town and reminisce with memories of how the town was. He was an amazing father to 3 beautiful children, one of whom he has joined in Heaven, Karen Thompson; 2 survivors are Darryl Darnell and wife, Linda, of Lake Dallas, Texas; and Sharon Melton of Crowley, Texas. His sister Linda Lott of Chester, Virginia and her children - Mark Burkes of Denison, Texas; Vicki Byrd and Laura Craig of Chester, Virginia. He was an amazing grandfather to 4 beautiful grandchildren: Grant Leighty of Kansas; Lola Cambell of Denton, Texas; Amanda Leighty of Orrick, Missouri; and Frankie Thompson of Corsicana, Texas; step-grandchildren: Charlie Osten of Lake Dallas, Texas; and Katie Knight of Lewisville, Texas and joined in Heaven with Frankie Melton. He was also blessed with being a great-grandfather of 2 beautiful great-grandchildren: Ariel Lashley and Aydenn Leighty of Grain Valley, Missouri. He had a way of always shining light on the darkest times. But when you did something wrong, he would definitely make sure you knew it. Frank was a prime example of living to be like Christ and very much praised the Lord. He had a heart of gold and unconditional love for everyone.
