Established 1948   Myrt Detro 28 March 1931 - Roy L. Detro 21 December 1928 - 3 August 2014  Roy L. Detro, 85, passed away Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Longview Regional Medical Center. Roy was born December 21, 1928 in Greencastle, Indiana, son of Roy and Lorean Detro. He married Myrt Scaggs on July 23, 1949; they recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary. Roy began his 33 year career with IBM in 1954 in Greencastle, Indiana and transferred to the Sherman Card Plant in 1958 until his retirement from IBM Las Colinas facility in 1987. He loved spending time with his family and grandchildren, playing cards, camping and fishing, and was an active member at Forest Grove Christian Church in Allen, Texas. He enjoyed volunteering in any capacity where he could lend a helping hand. Left to carry on Roy's legacy are his wife, Myrt, of Longview, Texas; sons, Gary and wife, Rhonda, of Celina; Mike and wife, Linda, of Sherman; and Darrell and wife, Vicki, of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter, Nancy Britain and husband, Doug, of Longview, Texas; 13 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren with another on the way; sister, Margie Perry of Waveland, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews. Roy was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and sister, Kate Clark. A funeral service was held Wednesday morning, August 6, 2014 at Turrentine Jackson Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Ken Crawford officiating. Pallbearers for the service included grandsons, Todd Detro, Grant Detro, Michael Detro, Blake Britain, Paxton Emerson, and Earl Shiflett.
