Lee DeWees and Nora Amanda Gunn were married December 22, 1912. Bert
was a wrecker for the MKT railroad and a member of the Church of Christ
in Denison. Their daughter, Alyce, was adopted at a very young age. She was born Alyce Jane Durbin September 7,1931 and died June 27, 2009. The Denison Press Friday, July 27, 1951 pg.4 Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at 4 o'clock at Bratcher-Moore chapel for Mrs. Bert L. DeWees, 55, of 425 W. Crawford, who died in a local hospital Sunday afternoon, July 22 at 5:10. Hulen Jackson of Dallas and Otto Johnson of Denison, Church of Christ ministers, conducted the services and interment was in Cedarlawn Memorial Park with Bratcher-Moore, directors, in charge. Mrs. DeWees had suffered a long illness and was hospitalized for 6 months. She had lived in Denison for 39 years. She was born in Waxahachie, December 13, 1895, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G.H. Gunn. She was educated in Sherman schools and was married in Denison, December 22, 1912 to B.L. DeWees. Survivors are her husband; a son, Bert H. DeWees, El Paso; 2 daughters, Mrs. F.A. Rix, San Angelo; and Mrs. W.E. Reneau, St. George, Utah; and 3 grandchildren. Lillian W.
