Established 1948 The Herald Democrat January 18, 2015 Sherman - Jeannette Griffin Cranfill, 89, a life-long resident of Sherman, passed away Friday, January 16, 2015. Funeral services were scheduled for Monday afternoon, January 19, 2015 at Dannel Funeral Home with Pastor Bryan Taylor officiating. Interment followed in Cedarlawn Memorial Park immediately afterward. Jeannette was born July 1, 1925 in Sherman, Texas, daughter of J.J. and Edna Ford Griffin. She graduated from Howe High school in 1942. She married Aubrey Leo Cranfill on July 26, 1947 and they enjoyed over 40 years together before his death in 1998. Jeannett was a "lifer" at Johnson & Johnson Co. beginning her employment with them on the first day the plant opened for operation. She devoted her entire working career to J. & J., eventually retiring around 1990. Jeannette had been a long time member of Forest Avenue Baptist Church in Sherman. In her leisure she thoroughly enjoyed gardening and also loved to get away for a day of fishing. If forced inside, she might likely would delve into her crossword puzzle book. Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; 2 brothers, Ford Griffin and Rev. David Griffin; and a nephew, Larry Griffin. Survivors include nieces and nephews, Paul Griffin and wife, Debbie; J.D. Griffin and wife, Tammy; and Cindy Griffin; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Serving as pallbearers were great-nephews Garette Griffin, Josh Griffin, Matt Griffin, Andrew Griffin, Bobby Carter, and Will Carter. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are welcomed for Forest Avenue Baptist Church, Sherman, Texas. Arrangements were under the direction of Dannel Funeral Home.
