Established 1948 The Herald Democrat June 11, 2010 SHERMAN - Funeral services for Elvina Thompson Clinton were held at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 10 in the Chapel on the Hill at Cedarlawn Memorial Park. Rev. Eddie Johnson of the Grayson Bible Baptist Church officiated with services under the direction of Waldo Funeral Home. Mrs. Clinton passed away Monday, June 7, 2010 in the Sherman Healthcare Center at the age of 85. Elvina was born October 28, 1924 in Bonham to Gus and Dollie (Billings) Rowland. Surviving two husbands, Elvina was married to Leslie "Shorty" Thompson from 1942 to 1985 and to Rev. George Clinton from 1991 to 2006. Elvina worked at Sherman Laundry, Pool Manufacturing, and the Sherman Community Hospital. She also owned and operated a home cleaning business. Mrs. Clinton was a member of the Unity Baptist Church in Denison. Mrs. Clinton is survived two daughters, Rosie Wilhelm and husband, Melvin, of Sherman; and Lisa Henry and husband, B.J., of Austin; 2 stepsons, Carrell Clinton of Denison and George Clinton of Sherman; one stepdaughter, Joyce Locke of Sherman; 9 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. .
