Lemley A. Coffin, 70, retired Denison cotton mill superintendent and
machinist
who died Tuesday at his home, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at
Johnson-Moore Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. Eugene Hoover of
Calvary
Baptist Church. Pallbearers were Richard Gregg, Milton Taul, Ray
Bellows, Lucious Hord, Cleo Beckham and Richard Nesbitt. Burial was at
Cedarlawn Memorial Park in Sherman. J.D. Coffin, 91, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 at his home in Denton, Texas. He was born March 2, 1924 in Denison, Texas, son of Lemley and Ella Coffin. He married Georgia Young on December 24, 1924 in Denison, Texas. They moved to Denton in 1965. J.D. served in World War II from 1943 to 1946; he then worked for S.H. Kress & Co. in Denison until 1948. From 1948 until he retired in 1979 he was employed by the US Postal Service, establishing the zip code program and then serving as a clerk and finallly as a supervisor. He is survived by his son, Larry Coffin; sister, Norma Jean Seale; and 5 grandchildren, Kimberly Dill, Kellye King, Casey Fry, Jeff Coffin, and Carrie Takes; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; sons, Danny Coffin and Darrell Coffin; one great-grandson, Bryson Dill; and brother, Wilburn Coffin. A funeral service was held Tuesday, May 19, 2015 in the Funeral Home chapel.
