LONG ILLNESS FATAL TO MRS. MARY CROW Mrs. Mary Crow, 1233 N. Luckett, who had lived in Sherman most of her life, died in a Sherman hospital at 12:45 p.m. Saturday after an illness of several months. She was 58. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in Dannel Funeral Chapel with Rev. Claude C. McQuiddy, Grand Ave,. Church of Christ minister, officiating. Burial was in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park with Dannel Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers were D.A. McCall, A.J. DeLang, C.D. Bumpas, C.M. Matlock, Jack Howard and W.F. Heflton. Mrs. Crow was born December 4, 1894 in Atlanta, Georgia, but she was reared in Sherman and lived here most of her life except for a few years spent in Tyler. She was a member of Grand Ave. Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband, E. Fred Crow, Sherman; one daughter, Anita Crow of Sherman; 2 brothers, Charles H. Crowley of Weatherford and Ernest Crowley of Amarillo; and 2 sisters, Mrs. O.S. Whitehurst of Quanah and Mrs. A.J. DeLang of Houston. SHERMAN MAN, 67, KILLED IN SMASHUP Ernest Fred Crow, 67, retired Sherman insurance man, died in an auto collision about 5:30 p.m. Monday at Italy, Texas. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Waxahachie hospital. Mrs. Crow suffered a broken nose and other injuries. She spent Monday night in a Waxahachie hospital. Also injured was the Crows' granddaughter, Cheryl Ann Harrison, one-year-old, who sustained a severe cut on the head. The child's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Harrison, also of Sherman, were bruised and shaken up but did not require hospitalization. All of the Sherman residents were riding in a car driven by Mr. Crow. They were returning home after spending the weekend with relatives in San Antonio. Harrison told a friend in Sherman Monday night that Mr. Crow may have suffered a heart attack just prior to the collision. Harrison, employed by IBM in Sherman, told his friend that the Crow car began moving into the path of an oncoming vehicle. Persons in the car shouted to him but he showed no sign of having heard, Harrison said. The collision came immediately afterward, Harrison was quoted as saying. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at Waldo Funeral Home with burial at Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Don Kester, minister of the Walnut St. Church of Christ, conducted the service. Pallbearers were Kyle C. Stone, Cliff Hestand, Gary Yowell, Dean Martin, Walter Carr, and John W. Beam. Mr. Crow was born November 27, 1894 in Upshur County, Texas. He was married to Mary Crowley June 1, 1919. She died in 1953. A year later he was married to Mrs. Freddie Harrison. The family home is at 1233 E. Luckett. He came to Grayson County and Gunter in 1907, moving to Sherman in 1908. He attended public schools here and later was employed in the Sherman post office until entering the U.S. Navy during World War I. In 1925 he moved to Tyler and was employed as a salesman until he returned to Sherman in 19??. Since then he had been engaged in the insurance business. 32nd Degree Mason Mr. Crow was a member of the Walnut Street Church of Christ. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Shriner. In addition to Mrs. Crow, other survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Paul Nixon of Sherman; 4 grandchildren; 3 step-sons, Tom Harrison of Sherman; Bill Harrison of Cleburne; and Byron Harrison of Grand Prairie; and a sister, Mrs. C.D. Bumpas of Sherman. Mr. Crow's son, Lt. Fred Crow, Jr. was killed during World War II. He was in the Army Air Corps.
