Established 1948   Tom Claycomb, Jr. 1923 - 1990 Marian H. Claycomb 1925 - 2021  Marian Hurst Claycomb of Sherman, Texas, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2021 at the age of 95. She was born in Royse City, Texas on October 3, 1925, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Edgar Hurst. After graduating from Royse City High School, Marian attended the University of Texas and Baylor University. In 1946 after World War II she married Tom Claycomb, Jr. The couple lived in Bryan, McKinney and Tyler before settling in Sherman in 1957. Marian was an active member of First Baptist Church of Sherman for 63 years. After Tom's retirement, they enjoyed traveling across the United States. She loved being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her children, Irene Fleming and husband, Bob; Tom Claycomb, III and wife, Katy; Eddy Ckatcinb abd wife, Terri; and Ann Statton and husband, Bob; as well as grandchildren, Emily, Cody, Monty, Tom, Will, Catelyn, Clifton, Caleb, Camilla and Colby; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and sister, Irene Hurst. A memorial service was held Wednesday morning, June 2, 2021 at First Baptist Church Church. Dr. Mike Lawson officiated. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to First Baptist Church of Sherman for the sanctuary renovation project.
